Digestive and thyroid care

Gut and thyroid health

Bloating, irregular digestion, fatigue and stalled weight are some of the most common reasons people are told their labs look fine. A standard thyroid screen is one number, and a standard digestive workup often stops at ruling out the serious things. This is the longer look: what your thyroid is actually doing across the full panel, and what is happening in your gut.

Overview

How care works here

Everyone starts the same way: a 99 dollar consult that runs a full 60 minutes, by video, with Brittney Diffiné, PA-C. That visit is history and questions. Testing is ordered afterward so the panel is chosen for your situation rather than run in advance and interpreted later.

From there you get a plan you can read and understand, with the reasoning behind it, and scheduled follow up so it is adjusted on results rather than left running.

Who this is for

This may be a fit if

  • Bloating, irregular digestion, reflux or discomfort after eating
  • Fatigue that sleep does not fix
  • Weight that will not move, or unexplained weight change
  • Brain fog, low mood, or feeling cold when nobody else is
  • Hair thinning, dry skin, or nails that break easily
  • A thyroid screen that came back normal while symptoms continued
  • Food reactions that seem to be widening over time

What is included

In your program

  • A 60 minute first visit

Digestive history, thyroid symptoms, medication history, diet patterns, stress and sleep, with the clinician who will treat you.

  • A full thyroid picture

Testing that goes past a single screening value to look at the active hormone, the conversion between forms, and thyroid antibodies where indicated.

  • Advanced digestive testing

Comprehensive stool analysis when it is warranted, looking at the microbial picture, markers of inflammation, digestive capacity and absorption.

  • A targeted protocol

Nutrition, supplements and lifestyle changes matched to what the testing actually showed, in a sequence you can follow.

  • Medication where appropriate

Thyroid medication or other prescriptions when the evaluation supports them, with follow up testing to confirm dosing.

  • Retesting and review

Scheduled follow up so the protocol is adjusted on results rather than left running indefinitely.

What to expect

Common timelines

2 to 4 weeks
Digestive comfort and energy often respond first as the initial changes take hold.
6 to 12 weeks
Bloating, regularity and thyroid symptoms as the protocol and any medication settle in.
12 weeks and beyond
Retesting, then a maintenance plan built around what changed.

Questions

Before you book

My thyroid test was normal. Why look again?

A screening test measures the signal your brain sends to the thyroid. It does not tell you how much active hormone you are producing, how well you convert between the two forms, or whether your immune system is attacking the gland. A fuller panel answers those questions, and it is common for someone with a normal screen to have something worth addressing on the wider picture.

What does the digestive testing involve?

An at home sample collection sent directly to the laboratory. It looks at the microbial picture, markers of inflammation and immune activity, and how well you are digesting and absorbing food. Testing is ordered only when your consult suggests it will change what we do.

Why are gut and thyroid handled together?

They influence one another. Thyroid hormone helps set the pace of digestion, and a meaningful share of the conversion to the active form happens outside the thyroid itself, including in the gut. Treating one while ignoring the other is a common reason people stall.

Will I have to cut out entire food groups?

Not as a default. Long restrictive elimination diets are easy to start and hard to recover from. Where a short structured trial is useful it is time limited, with a plan for reintroduction, and it is built around what the testing showed.

Do I need labs before I book?

No. Book the consult first and bring recent results if you have them. Testing is chosen afterward so it fits your situation.
